New Patient Information
At Jacksonville Brian and Spine, we are a specialty practice focused exclusively on brain and spine conditions. To ensure that we can provide you with the highest level of care, we require the following before scheduling any new patient appointments:
1. Referral Required for All Patients
- A referral is required by our office for every new patient, even if your insurance plan does not require one.
- We do not accept self-referred patients.
- Your treating physician must send us a referral, including details about your condition and the reason you are being referred.
2. Recent MRI
- We require an MRI of the affected area performed within the last 6 months.
- A copy of the MRI on a disc must be brought to your appointment, and the radiology report should be sent with the referral.
- If you do not have recent imaging, please contact your referring physician to order and complete this before the referral is sent to our office.
3. Clinical Review
- Once your referral has been received, our clinical team will review your information to confirm your condition is something we can treat.
- If appropriate, our office will contact you directly to schedule your appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I don’t have a referral?
- Unfortunately, we cannot accept patients without a referral from a treating physician. Please speak with your primary care doctor or specialist about your symptoms, and they can determine if a referral to us is appropriate.
What if my MRI is older than 6 months?
- We require a recent MRI because it allows us to provide the most accurate and effective care. If your MRI is older than 6 months, please speak with your physician about ordering updated imaging before sending a referral.
Can I call to schedule while waiting on my referral?
- We are unable to schedule patients until we have received both your referral and recent MRI results. Once your information is reviewed, we will contact you to schedule.
What if my insurance does not require a referral?
- Even if your insurance plan does not require a referral, our office does. Because we are a specialty practice, referrals help ensure we receive the necessary medical information from your treating physician so we can determine if your condition is one, we are best suited to treat. This process allows us to provide you with the highest level of care and avoid unnecessary visits.
